NO NO NO November 19, 2008 M. Bownes (Ireland) DONT GET IT yes its cheep but the buzzing never stops as its our first baby its on all night even beside my bed, so i can hear her if she needed me but the buzzing wont let me sleep unless its turned down so low that i cant hear her anyway. So for that reason its not a good buy.
Disappointed October 27, 2008 V. Clarke We have had this monitor for about 7 months. From day one, the buzz has been annoying. It was cheap, but FP is usually a good brand. I can say that if you like static and buzz this one is for you. Otherwise, stay away.
you get what you pay for!! October 6, 2008 mer (uk) i got this for 9.99 on sale, and yes its big and plasticky but it works fine. i don't know what people expect to get for this price really.... in my house it does get a bit of buzzy interferance but its so sensitive i can almost always hear baby breathing and you can have it turned down in front of you and watch the lights for action. i would happily get another one for my parents house. don't know how the other person managed to have a faulty charger as i doesn't have a charger, just a mains adaptor. oh, and you do sometimes pick up other monitors/phones so if you are nosey its great, although they can probably hear you talking to your baby like a mentalist too...!
Don't buy September 26, 2008 N. Ewing (Up my own bottom) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
It's cheap but then after 2 months it's already broken! First the charger was broken then followed with the monitor. Now it's not working altogether. Plus when it was working, it wasn't giving the clear signal. So all in all, this is not a good buy.
Plasticky and proud. It does the job - no need to pay more!! September 14, 2008 Lily Bambridge (UK) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've never written a review before, but after reading the other review I thought I ought to tip the balance in favour of the FP Sounds and Lights monitor. My son is currently 13 months old and we were given this monitor by a family friend who no longer needed it when bubba was around 1 month and it does just what we need it to do. We can hear our sons cries, his chatter when he wakes and when he turns in his sleep. The clarity is not so brilliant that we can hear his breathing but if I was going to concentrate on that then I may as well be in the room with him!! I usually leave it in the lounge and just turn the volume up if I am in the kitchen (which is next door) and can hear him fine if he needs me. The nightlight is really useful when I go to check on him before going to bed. It isn't terribly bright but I wouldn't want it to be. It was fine when he was much smaller and having his night feeds and needed a nappy change (I've NEVER been able to change a nappy in the pitch black!) and I'm sure that he finds the orange glow reassuring if he wakes up. The reception is every so often fuzzy but it is always when the weather is particulary bad, but we tend to leave it in the same place downstairs plugged into the mains (saves paying for and replacing batteries!) with no problems. We have used it a various friends houses and it has worked fine. We found it so good that we purchased a second one for the grandparents house from Boots for 20 and I must confess that they did get some static when they had it too near to other electrical things, but they have now worked out the best places in every room to put it and think it's great. Both sets of grandparents have said that they never had monitors we we were all young so they don't quite understand why anyone would spend more than this on one. If you are currently looking at monitors and are not bothered by how stylish they look (I think my hubby is still hoping for the day that Apple bring out some type of ipod monitor!) or the fact that it doesn't have a video monitor, or two-way talking (never quite understood either of these features - they are NOT essential!!) and just want something to assure you and put your mind at ease, then I highly recommend this product. I hope that this has helped, especially first time mums - it is so confusing!!
