5 out of 5 stars THERE SHOULD BE A LAW FORCING STILL GAME TO CONTINUE FOREVER...   October 17, 2008

Lets face it none of us are critics so if you like still game at all the youve got to get this... and the others.....and the christmas specials... in fact if these guys dont make another series i just dont know what i'll do..... i know its psycho patter. :) Have resorted to watching dear green place now which, dont get me wrong, is very good just different. You cant beat still game its a must have dvd collection, too cheap if you ask me.

5 out of 5 stars More cracking Craiglang comedy!   May 27, 2008

After seeing all previous 5 series and seeing the reviews for series 6, I was a bit sceptical about buying it for fear of disappointment. No need - it was every bit as good as the previous 5 series and I still wondered if I might need coronary care after nearly laughing myself to death. Hope the Xmas and New Year episodes will make it to DVD soon and am praying for a 7th series.

Well what can I say - I am a huge fan of Still Game and will continue to be one forever more. Jack, Victor and pals never fail to bring a smile to my face. I do agree that this series has been slightly more serious than the others but they after all old men and as much as we would love them to, they wont live forever. Come on who can forget Navid catching Isa shopping in Hyperdales, an absolute classic - like the lady said "she never eat two of anything". Love it, love it, love it. Go buy this and you will be guaranteed a laugh

I can see why others are criticising this for being less funny than previous series, as there are darker and more "social" issues addressed in this series, but just when things seem at their darkest (literally in one episode), someone will say something daft and the mood lightens immediately. Also, some of the storylines feel forced, with denouements that seem tacked on, but all in all in my opinion there are still more belly laughs per minute on this programme than on any other contemporary comedy.

One last caveat would be that much of the comedy relies on the viewers' knowledge of the character traits of each of the protagonists. I would therefore imagine people coming to Still Game for the first time through this series may miss some of the subtleties, so for those of you out there who haven't yet fallen for the charms of Jack, Victor and the gang put that right immediately by getting the box set of series 1 - 5.

To sum up, darker than previous series but Still Game indeed and well worth a purchase.

As a huge fan of the first 5 series (and the stage version which is also on dvd) I was very disappointed by series 6. The spark has gone and it seems unlikely it could be regained for series 7 if there is one.

A few good moments of course but it falls short of what we expect, they are largely repeating things from previous shows. Thanks for the memories lads now it's time to move on!

p.s. give Navid a series of his own, he cracks me up every time without fail!
