A great Gospel soundtrack! May 15, 2000

You don't have to be religious to appreciate the vocal and musical talent on this soundtrack. There is a good variety of upbeat Gospel songs - 2 of which are 3-song medleys. "Jesus on the mainline" is a right foot-tapper, as is "Ready for a miracle". If only church was always like this! My favourite track is "Change in my life" - even my kids know the words now. "Pass me not" and "Blessed Assurance" bring a slower tone to the collection - moody, bluesy and good with your eyes closed. I gave this 4 stars rather than 5 because I would have preferred the lovely incidental music in the movie (eg when it finally rains on the town of Rustwater) to Meat Loaf's "Paradise by the dashboard light", which only features for about ten seconds in the film itself. Other than that, a foot-stomping, finger-clicking soundtrack which might just make you think a little bit more about the "the Man with the Plan", as Steve Martin refers to God in the film!
