1 out of 5 stars Junk   October 4, 2008

This mower is total rubbish. It's cheap and shoddily made and not easy to make any height adjustments. Its motor is so gutless that it would be more suited to a ceiling fan and don't even think of cutting wet grass - it'll wilt like a daffodil at the thought. The very first time I used it, the pins holding the handle broke. Sure, the manufacturers agreed to replace them because of a 'manufacturing defect' but it took two weeks for them to arrive. By that time the grass was long enough to scythe down! I had a Black and Decker hover mower for twenty years before it died and I wish I had simply replaced it with another Black and Decker. In short, save your money or put it towards a sheep.

2 out of 5 stars Frustratingly weak   June 29, 2008

Bought this mower in 2005, and it is still gong 3 years on. That's not to say that I have ever been totally satisfied with it though. I have managed to get the stripes, which gives a pleasing effect afterwards, however the actual mowing experience is not good. it can't handle damp lawns, and long grass needs to be done twice. Rather than a clean cut, the grass is flayed at the tips, which was what I was trying to avoid in getting a cylinder mower. I'd avoid this one - it is far too weak and flimsy.

1 out of 5 stars Not on new turf - no don't do it   June 17, 2008

This is a pathetic mower and tends to tear at the grass. If used on new turf it will rip it up.
It doesn't like long grass.
It doesn't like damp grass.
It doesn't produce stripes.
Does anyone know what the clip at the base of the handle is for? It just makes folding it up a pain.
I've persevered for a couple of years with this (don't ask me why) and am going to try a different brand. I thought Qualcast was supposed to be good - not any more?

1 out of 5 stars Eclipse 320   May 7, 2008

This mower does not cut grass it flattens it. the motor is not man enought for the job either. the cross bar that actuates with the cylinder blades to cut the grass is too thick and just jams on the mud. save your self the 100 which is high too. Qualcast make great rotaries, have just bought a qualcast rotary excellent and 40% cheaper. Previously had a turbo vac which was excellent also.

1 out of 5 stars Don't buy it !   May 4, 2008

The only good thing if found is that it is easy to use but don't expect good performance: the grass box needs emptying constantly or else the cut grass spewed back out of the grass box. The rollers tend to flatten the grass and the cut is very uneven.
I bought it less than 18 months ago - used it only a few time and ... it is broken already: the motor ceased turning the blades !
